Domino Suicide

On February 22nd 2005, a Korean movie star named Lee Eun Ju committed suicide. According to the reports, the cause of her suicide was depression. She was totally stressed out about her financial problems. her nude scenes in the movie The Scarlet Letter(2004) and poor box office succes of the film. Many people thought that The Scarlet Letter(2004) drove her to suicide because that movie dealt with dark side of society like adultery and homicide.

On December 21st 2006, a Korean singer named Yuni killed herself. She was also depressed but with her it was a little different than with Lee Eun Ju. When she was teenager, she made her debut as a child actress. After she became an adult, she converted her job, actress into singer. She had a cosmetic surgery to change her appearance to be more sexy. But her sexual performances in the feature and the way she dressed did not succeed in gaining her popularity but only acute criticism. There were a lot of rampant rumors and cruel slander on her blog homepage. She couldn't bear the gossip and the brutal criticism anymore, so decided to commit suicide.

Lastly, on February 10th 2007, Jung Da Bin who was well-known as actress in Korea TV drama also committed suicide because of depression about droping her popularity and long working vaccum.

What do you think of consecutive suicide of famous stars? What does they kill themselves? Just only their mental stress and disease are reasonable to be caused of suicide? No, I don't think so. We can not only make entertainers win applause while standing under the glaring spotlights, but also drive them into a corner and then let them kill themselves. They are not god who is perfect. Our light joke about them can be important role to conclude their lives.

The fashion industry called anorexia.

In the news recently, they are always talking about skinny models. It has become a serious issue for the fashion industry.

In this picture of a 22 year old model, Luisel Ramos, who died minutes later after leaving the catwalk. Do you want to know what she ate? Green leaves and diet coke for 3 months! For 3 months! Can you believe it? Why? Green leaves and diet coke for 3 months in a bid to stay skinny for the runway. Just six months after her younger sister(Eliana Ramos) died of a heart attack. She also was a model. The two sisters problem was an eating disorder called anorexia.


So the fashion industry recently change the system and began to refuse ultra-thin runway model after these two sisters died.

Many girls in all of the world plunged into anorexia now. Because they want look slim and slender, they don't mind their heath. It just keeps making me want to be even fatter, the most important thing is my health. In everything heath should be the first consideration. Keep regular hours, eatting well, sleep well that is most important in your life.

Problem with Making Insulting Comments

People have the right to say whatever they want. Sometimes they misunderstood this right. They think they can say anything but this is not always possible. Think about how it feels when someone tells you something that is very hurtful.

We have to think about other people's feelings. So now I want to talk about making insulting comments. It was happened in internet many times. Nowadays many people use internet. They can get a lot of information and they can write comments about their opinion. Also they can talk to many people in online. They can write something without their real name.

They can hurt somebody in their comments. They should not be allowed to hurt someone. There was some examples in Korea. One of very famous singer committed suicide, because she had changed her face with plastic surgery. So many netizens, which is network-citizen, wrote very bad insult comments in her blog homepage.

She read these comments and became very depressed, and finally it drove her to commit suicide. In my opinion, this problem comes from the anonymity, which mean is someone didn`t identify their name. When anonymity was introduced to internet many people thought that it is very convenient.

They were able to say anything. For example, private things, social problem, and etc. It makes a lot of topics in the internet. But look at nowadays. Do you think anonymity is good? Many web sites try changing their agreement. Their members have to use their real name or they have to tell their real information only web site owner when they are neccesary. I think people have to use their real name. If they can write nondefine their name they can become evil. It might be make other victims.
Therefore we have to use our real name, and more important thing is we must consider others.
After then, we can`t hear any victims.

The Internet Addiction

How long did you use to use the internet daily when you were back home? I usually used to use internet for 5 hours in a day. The day that don't use internet must be very inconvenient. Using Internet is getting universal and Korea grow at internet powerful country. As time go by, The Internet is becoming social problem.

Recently, The life which don't use Internet can't be imagined.
It's possible to experience what we always imagine before, and our experience is extended with surprise speed. From that point, we can say, Internet is very nice and wonderful.
But, The time that we used internet is getting increase, and affect our routine badly. It makes social problem called Internet addiction

Generally, interest is decreased by time passed, because time makes everything boring. But, internet activity is changed and renewed continuously. People have great interest in the internet. The death event which plays online games for three days with no rest and no sleep, The broken family causes parents fall in internet chatting, The disappearance from home for games and so on. We can see these articles wasily in newspaper.

Usually, the word which is 'addiction' is used with drug and alcohol. Like this time. It's easy to treat, just quit. But, Internet addiction is a little bit different. because Internet is not material. Therefore, the way that control our mind can be effective than the way to quit internet.
to prevent and treat internet addiction, we can make rules and keep them, but the most important thing is to control your own mind.

Immigration from Mexico to USA

This is a big problem in Mexico. Due to the close proximity of Mexico to the US and the noticeable difference in quality of life, it is no wonder that for many generations of Mexicans crossing the border illegally to the US is common. They come to achieve the American dream. Some are satisfied by just achieving a small slice of the American pie, because even this is usually better than what they could achieve at home.

Before and during the 1980s, it was easier to illegally cross the border. Illegal immigrants would cross the river and navigate through land with the guidance of a Coyote or smuggler. However, they tend to have greater access to opportunities. Many dreams of going to what they refer to the North to make more money.

Today some illegal immigrants and their “coyotes” have instead resorted to trying to cross the border through the Arizona desert. Especially in the summer months there tend to be more cases of illegal immigrants who try to cross the Arizona desert and die from dehydration. This is due to increased security along the Mexico-U.S.A. border near California.

Nowadays about 5.3 million undocumented immigrants from Mexico are living in the United States

Collective Bullying in the school and conformity.(2nd edition)

Collective bullying in the classroom is a serious problem in Korea. Sometimes, older students bully younger ones, or upper year students bully new students. These kinds of problems happen all the time and everywhere. Actually, those are not so serious as what I want to talk from this point on.

The children who are bullied have their friends, however, collective bullying in the classroom is by all of the students in a classroom, and is focused on one student. We call it , Wang dda. Especially who for those students who seem to be stupid or poor; it is more serious. "Wang dda" are excluded from other students who are in the same class. Nobody talks with them or plays with them.

They are always alone, even eat lunch alone while the other students in same class enjoy their lunch with friends. In addition, some bad guys beat them and steal their money, pencils, even books.

Why does this happen? The conformity plays a important roles in this situation. At the first, some bad guys start to bother one student. Sometimes, there are reasons, but usually not. After that, other students in this class begin to conform, also without any reason.

What is conformity? Conformity is the tendency for people to adapt the behavior and opinions presented by other group members. So why we do conformity? Conformity is necessary to live the life, especially when we have no information about something.

Imagine that you are in the high-class restaurant for the first time in your life. You might not want to make a mistake or seems to be stupid even though you don’t know anything like how use the knife and fork, what is the etiquette in this restaurant, what food is most delicious, and how grip the glass of wine. Then how do you solve these difficult problems? The easiest way is that imitate other people’s behavior in the restaurant. This is conformity.

However, we do conformity, even though we have correct information, and we know what is wrong or what is right, because of normative influence that means people usually want to be liked, accepted, and approved of by others. I will introduce interesting experiment to you.

Asch, one of the famous psychologists conduct the experiment. He showed three standard lines which have different length. After that, he showed another line. The question is which line is same length with last line? However, there was some trick. The participants were sixteen, but fifteen of them were confederates. Confederates answered wrong on purpose. Asch wanted to know how many people follow other’s answers even though they knew the right answer. So how do think about that? What percentage? Guess.
In conclusion, about 60% of real participants did conformity. Why? They didn’t want to seem stupid even though they knew correct answer.

Conformity is one of the potential factors for collective bullying. Most of students don’t want to exclude or torment their friends. In addition, they know those kinds of behavior are bad. However, the desire of being liked, accepted, and approved of by other people is much stronger. In addition, conformity in collective cultures and interdependant cultures is more usual and has much stronger power than independent and individual cultures. In my opinion, that’s the reason why “the collective bullying” is more serious in Korea and Japan.

Both teachers and parents have no solution about the problem. The people who have solution are the students who do collective bullying. Conformity is necessary to live. Nevertheless our behavior shouldn’t be controlled by conformity when we know right answer, although we seem to be stupid, foolish and crazy.

Sometimes collective bullying provokes serious problems like suicide, violence and even murder. In conclusion, it should be removed in our society. Also, the people who do collective bullying ought to be punished by schools, or police even if they are young and students.

Leaving Trash

Leaving trash is a important concern of mine. When I had a part time job as a clerk at a convenience store, I always saw people leaving trash in front of the convenience store. I had to pick up it again and again. I found this to be very annoying. I went back home from the store,I saw it in the streets.

People shouldn't be allowed to leave trash in the streets.Unfortunately, people leave all kinds of trash like plastic bags bags from snacks and empty cigarette packages. I found this to have been very upsetting for me.

I had to ask custmers,"Do you need a bag?".Most of the custmers said "Yes".Actually it became the leaving trash. People who throw away stuff shouldn't say "Yes".

Recently, a peaceful life is taken as a matter of course. I think people have become lazy. People can do anything they want, but people should not throw trash on the street instead of the garbage can.

I cannot believe people sometimes. People must be required to pick up their own trash.And if people don't need a bag then they should say, No, thank you. When I go back Japan, I will have a part-time job again. I hope I won't have to pick up trash left behind by people.

When I went to Singapore, I was amazed, because there was not any trash in the streets. The Singaporean government instituted rules that if people throw trash away in the streets and spit on the ground, people must pay a fine.As if people eat something in the subway or the bus,people must pay a fine.Therefore there are very clean.It's very good idea!I agree about trash.but,I sometimes ate something in the subway.So I disagree that.

2 or 3 years ago, George Walker Bush told that North Korea is axis of evil. Also he told all people "Iraq Saddam Hussein has the Weapons of Mass Destruction so we have to destroy them!". Many people against this opinion but G.B didn`t bend his claim. I think Iraq doesn`t have the WMD. It might have been a false claim. G.B might have wanted a tading country about oil field. Because Saddam Hussein is not good for him. Nowdays he didn`t find the WMD and he is identified storyteller. But he is still United Stats president. He didn`t pray for the repose of the deceased of Iraqy. How to still being a president? I don`t understand. A Moment to Remember - Eraser in My Head

A Moment to Remember is made in Korea. The movie is touching story about pathetic love.

The story is about a women that entered a convenience store and she bought a cola. When she walked into the street, suddenly, she realized that she forgot the cola which she had left in the convenience store.

She went back to the store again. As she entered the store, a man who was opening the door held a can of cola. She thought to herself that that must be my cola. She took the cola from him and drank it.

In addition, she burped at him. After that, she went to the bus station, she wanted to pay money, but she realized that she left her wallet in the convenience store. Again, she went back, the staff give her the cola and wallet. This is reason for their first meeting.

After that, they often got into and fell in love. Finally they got married. They have spent a good time. But unfortunately she got a incurable disease, name of Alzheimer's disease.

After he knew this fact, he took care of her. He wrote down everything on the paper and he put this paper on the wall for her. She was getting forgot the memories even who he is. When he went to the work, she called wrong his name of her ex-boyfriend.

After she found out about this situation, she wrote down a letter quickly, because she afraid that she make him got a shock again and forgot everything which is their valuable memories. Both are really love each other. Also he tried to make a same situation that they're meetting the first time. This is quite beautiful. And this situation only can do between real lover.

They met cause of her's forgetfulness and also they separated cause of her's forgetfulness.
This is so beautiful story, isn't it? he did everything for her and also she did everything for him. They were in love blindly and completely, eventhough for a very short time. I think this is true love. It's quite appealing to watch.

Prison Break

This is my favorite drama series in America. We can see it every Monday night at 8 pm on Global TV. This drama name is Prison Break.

We can guess what the story is about from the title. The person,who is in the picture on the left, is Lincoln Burrows, a wrongly accused murderer of the Vice President’s brother. The other person, who is on the right side of picture, is Michael Scofield, who attempted to rescue his brother from prison. His brother,who is Lincoln Burrows, will be put to death for the death of the VP brother wrongfully. He is innocent.

Michael Scofield has a mental disease that makes it possible for him to remember details, numbers, drawings and designs very well. For example something happen near the him even very small thing like a dust or small insect. If someone have this disease they might be mad but if she/he has the highest I.Q. they become genius

Micheal Scofield is on of these people and he is very smart. He wants to free his brother from prison. Fortunately, he designed this prison. He robbed bank intetionally and then he entered this prison. He tries breaking out of prison.

First season of this drama many people confused guilty or not guilty of his done. But now season2 televiewer knew that Lincoln is not guilty. I like this kind of story. Something is hide and mistery. It make me very curious and other televiewer too.

So I recommend this drama more than Friends. It will give some other interesting. Also It might be good for your listening skill. You know? Always I wait monday for watching Prison Break.

Knockin' On Heaven's Door

If you heard that you would die soon, how would you feel? That is not an interesting subject that you can be answered easily. Now, I would like to introduce a movie topic and this sad problem is fascinating.

The title of the movie is Knockin' On Heaven's Door. As you can see in this title that this movie is talking about the dead. This movie was made in German and opened in 1998.

The Titanic was released at same time and because of this, this movie failed to perform well in Korea. As you know, up till that time Titanic was the most successful feature film ever. It was a huge box office success.

The story of this movie opens up with two men, both with lives that were dead soon. And they are hospitalized in the same ward. They who have never seen the sea decide to escape from hospital. And leave for the sea. They are nothing to fear and horrible, because They will be dead soon. They steal a car for leave. Misfortunely, that is gang’s car with one million dollors. So, They are pursued by police and gang. Before they are dead, each of them want to accomplish one thing they hope at times. One man present a nice car to his mother, like ‘Elvis Presely’ did. Another man want to spend one night with two sexy girls. Anyway, after so many problem, They arrive at the sea. As soon as they get to the sea, One man is dead.

What a sad scene….!!
But, even this scene, doesn’t demand persistente sadness to audience. So, it give more strong impression to audience. It is not necessary to be philosopher and scholar before die. If you accept your dead, you don’t need to worry anymore ‘Before die, I will doing What I really want to do’ It’s the right answer I think. At that point, Even though talk about dead, This movie so enjoyful

John Q

I saw this movie two weeks ago. This movie describes a father's love. I already had heard a lot of other stories about mother's love that impressed me. After the movie finished, I cried. I felt alot of different emotions during this film. John Q's love torwards his son was not only impressive, but deeply sad. His facial expression eventhough he tried to conceal his sadness struck my heart. I think that men's tears seem more sorrowful than women's.

John had a son who wants to be a bodybuilder. Despite being poor, he was intelligent and outgoing. John's family was not rich, but they seemed to be the happiest family.

One day, John's son fell down while playing baseball. The name of his disease was cardiac insufficiency. It was heart failure. The doctor said that if he did not undergo a heart transplant surgery that he would probably die sooner than later.

But John's family couldn't afford to be operated on. It was possible to be operated when the name is written on the list. John begged doctor to put his son's name on the transplantation receiver list, but he was refused.

John worked more than 20 hours for a day to earn a surgical operation fee. But the doctor released John's son and had him leave the hospital. Finally, He lost his reason and committed crime. He held the doctor and some patients as hostages in the hospital. The hospital was surrounded by the police. He didn't kill the hostages but used them to protest against the actual fact that the poor people are never guaranteed affordable healthcare. Security and welfare were provided for only the people who have lots of money. The citizens started to protest together. Because they sympathized with John Q.

In spite of his protest, the government and the police didn't accept his proposal that I will stop if you put my son's name on the list. So he decided to commit suicide to give his heart his son. On the point of killing himself, fortunately the donor was found.

Das experiment!(2rd edition)

Do you think the German soldiers who fought in World War II and killed a lot of Jewish people were really cruel and sadistic? Do you think that a person can be either a devil, or an angel, and that they decide how to act based on personal character and their predispostion? If then, see 'Das experiment'.

In this movie, nineteen volunteers participated in an experimental prison simulation . They were randomly selected to be either a guard or a prisoner. The experimenter made them take on their roles. For example, a guard would command, and give prisoners some restrictions to control them with the exception of physical violence. On the other hand, prisoners had to follow the guard's commands.

At the first, they were familiar with opposite role. Moreover, sometimes they played each other. However, few hours later, guards began to be changed violently, and repressed prisoners. And the people who played prisoner roles became powerlessness. Only one people who is a hero in the movie resisted. Finally, they fought terribly, and many people were killed by the people who played an opposite role. The experiment ended in a tragedy.

Do you think it is just a movie? Never!! This movie is based on real experiment that was conducted by Zimbardo, one of the famous social psychologist, in 1971. Serious psychological problem is caused to most of prisoners by this experiment, although there was no murder like this movie. The guards made prisoners clean toilet by their bare-hands, mattresses were removed in bad prisoners's room and even did not give any food for punishment. The behavior or punishments that were conducted by guards were very similar with guards who work in real prison. Surprisingly, they had not gone to a real jail, and they did not know any information of the real prison. At first, Zimbardo planned two weeks for this experiment. But six days later, he had to stop this experiment.

So what? The people who played guards were real devils? or sadists? like the German soldiers who killed millions of Jewish people? I don't think so. There were some tests that decide the participants whether they are normal or not before the experiment. Absolutely, all of them were confirmed as normal people. The answer is our behavior and our character is decided by not only dispositional causes, but also situational causes like social roles, rules, cultures so on. For example, character and behavior of mark who is our great teacher is made by not only Mark himself, but also his job-teacher, his nation-Canada, and his partner-us. In conclusion, you should pay attention to not only yourself, but also your situations, to understand your behavior, thought, and character fully.

"Beauty and the Beast"

My favorite movie is the"Beauty and the Beast".

Of course,the"Beauty and Beast" was made by Disney. The movie which is very famous is watched all over the world.The story is very romantic. The prince who is unkind and selfish is changed the Beast by the enchantress. The beast fall in love with the beautiful woman.Many people must already know the story.

Anyway,I really like its music which is very beautiful and fun. Many music is used by the movie.I like all music. My favorite song is "Beauty and Beast" which is sang by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.

This song is very beautiful and romantic. If you haven't listened this song,you sould listen.
I really wanted to listen this song,so I watched the movie twice a week. If I buy the song,I can always listen to it.I realized too late.I must be crazy. I have many favorite movies.But "Beauty and the Beast" is the best movie for me.

Because,when I went to New York,I watched the musical. I was impressed.

Happening in Cuba

I took a trip in Cuba for 7 days. When I was traveling in Cuba, it was winter. But the winter of Cuba is completely differ from the one of Toronto. The temperature in winter is rise to 22~24'C, so I felt a little bit hot. I enjoyed swimming and having a suntan at the lovely beach, Varadero which is famous as a resort of Cuba. I stayed for 6 days in Varadero and I dropped in Havana which is the capital of Cuba in the middle of the days. Havana was so strange and old city but it was great.

Because of strong sunlight, I was sunburnt.
I should have put sunblock on my skin frequently.
My traveling to Cuba is perfect because the weather was warm, all of the food and drink are free and the entertainment held everyday at the hotel was very exciting and impressing.

But....!!!
On the last day of my trip, a serious happening popped up. When I went through the departure procedure, a cubas who works in departure department at the international airport of Cuba seized me about one hour. He looked my passport and my face again and again and then he said to me.
"A picture in this passport is not similar to you."
"When did you arrive in Cuba?"
"What is the name of city that you arrived in?"
"When is your birthday?"

"Where do you live in now?"
He must have doubt me. Because the picture seems really different from my face, I am not good at speaking English and I said that I am 23 years old. According to the Korean age, it is correct. But it is used only Korea. I should have answered that I am 21 years old.

If I had studied English more and more, I could have explained what I was thinking. All my freinds were called and checked like me. Finally, I lost my temper and cried bitterly in front of them. On cring they permited us to go to Toronto.

New York

I want to New York on Christmas day.

My friends invited me to go to New York.
But I have to save my money.I said,"I'm sorry,I can't go."

Do you understand your pet what ther're saying? I have lived with my dog for 9 years. Although I live together long tme, sometime I don't understand what he says.
When we were Korea New Year, my family went to the grandfather's house. So I put my dog in an animal house for 3 days. After that I brought my dog from an animal house, I felt strange. Because whenever he see me, he usually licks me. But at that time, he didn't lick me, also his eyes loocked a little bit different.
The monent I think someone could have hit my dog. My dog is as meek as a lamb and before I never hit him, so if someone hit him, he might have gotten a shock.
Also I guess that someone might have given him which he doesen't like food, because he really likes eatting meats. If I give him just dry dog foods, he never eat it. I have to mix dry dog foods and a can dog food.
Another possibility is that he might have been disappointed in love. There is lots of dogs in an animal house. He probably fell in love. But he came back home, he couldn't meet her who he fell in love. So his feeling is not good.
I don't know correctly, but I just know his feeling is uncomfortable. We wouldn't put my dog in an animal house. So whenever my family leave the house, we never put my dog in an animal house.

'The Korean Traditional Mask' - by hyun wook

This is my presentation about 'Korean traditional mask'. I try to choice a topic about Korean as possible as I can. I am going to introduce you to 'the Korean traditional masks'. Korean Masks have unique characteristics compared with other country's things. It's the 'Fun'!! If you see korean masks, you will know Korean masks are so fun. There are different reasons to make mask. African and American Indians made their masks to give dread and fear. So, they must have wanted driving away ghost and bad soul. but Korean masks make people laugh with surprised and laughed figure. because 'The Korean common people' make mask to fun nobble. That is the sole interesting to 'common people' with pained by hard working.

Our ancestors have made and used a masks. from long time ago. At first, They must have used masks by tool of disguise and hunt animals. and then, gradually change to religious service, at last. turn into the arts. Most Korean masks have been used in game. except some masks are respected. Almost masks spreaded the whole country is not only play game but also include factor expected good luck. A representative Korean masks are Hahoital, Bongsantal, Gangnyungtal, etc. These masks is named by village where the mask is originated.
Each mask has a different trait and is made by different material. We would dance or play with these masks in Korea. We have still dance of Bongsantal, play of Hahoital, etc. in our country.
They are famous enough as many foreigners come and watch them.

My Last Birthday

I made a celebration in my house with my friends. Everybody started to arrive at 8:30 P.M.. The musicians arrived at around 9:00 P.M. and were hearing all night the songs that we like. The dinner was trays of sushi but before as appetizers there were chips. Everybody were dancing and drinking beer or soft drink and we had fun all night at 4:00 A.M. everything finished.


After I was very tired and I went to bed to sleep for the following day to go to me with my family and some friends to eat seafood at the beach. I have to make again because was very fun.

My city is small but we have a beach near around 30 minutes. The seafood there is very delicious you must eat fish called Zarandeado is the best in this beach called Maviri you can enjoy the beach with your friends or your family.

Giant Squid

If you saw small island that is moving and suddenly disappear in the sea. It might be Kraken ,which is the biggest creature in the earth.

According to europian sailor`s report ,many years ago, people believe Kraken ,which is huge monster living under the sea. They must have seen the giant squid. Nowdays, many scientist research about it and some of them already proof about giant squid is exist in the deep sea.

Accoding to scientist report`s, the giant squid live in the deep sea many years ago. Sometimes they appear in the sea.

People,who is many years ago sailors, might have seen the giant squid that time and they might have told it is Kraken. But nowdays many people had catched giant squid many where. Active Voice
In sentences written in active voice, the subject performs the action expressed in the verb; the subject acts.

Passive Voice
In sentences written in passive voice, the subject receives the action expressed in the verb; the subject is acted upon. The agent performing the action may appear in a "by the . . ." phrase or may be omitted.

Sometimes the use of passive voice can create awkward sentences, as in the last example above. Also, overuse of passive voice throughout an essay can cause your prose to seem flat and uninteresting. In scientific writing, however, passive voice is more readily accepted since using it allows one to write without using personal pronouns or the names of particular researchers as the subjects of sentences (see the third example above). This practice helps to create the appearance of an objective, fact-based discourse because writers can present research and conclusions without attributing them to particular agents. Instead, the writing appears to convey information that is not limited or biased by individual perspectives or personal interests.
You can recognize passive-voice expressions because the verb phrase will always include a form of be, such as am, is, was, were, are, or been. The presence of a be-verb, however, does not necessarily mean that the sentence is in passive voice. Another way to recognize passive-voice sentences is that they may include a "by the..." phrase after the verb; the agent performing the action, if named, is the object of the preposition in this phrase.

Passive Voice

Sentences are in eithe the active or the passive voice. In active sentences, the subject performs the action of the verb. We want to emphasize the performer of the action, so we put the subject in front of the verb.

Michaelangelo painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

In passive sentences, the subject receives the action of the verb. We want to emphasize what happened , not who did it. The performer of the action is either unknown or unimportant, so the performer goes after the verb or is not mentioned at all.

An object (direct or indirect) of an active sentence becomes the subject of a passive sentence. The subject of an active sentence becomes a phrase begging with by or disappears entirely.

Opening up!!

How stressful he is. Look him, how stressful he is. One of his parents or his friends might have died. Or he could have failed on his important test. Another possibility is he may have lost his job. All of us have those kinds of stressful events. So what do you usually do when you have so stressful problem in your life? Just try to forget it? Or you could have eaten more than usual, or you might have run so hardly and shouted like a monster. Because everyone who has such a huge stressful problem wants to remove it in our brain, or reduce our stress. So, are these good solutions to reduce or remove our stress?


So, for a couple of minute, try some experiment. At then first, close your eyes. And imagine a white big bear. You might have seen the bear in coke advertisement. Can you imagine? Don’t worry. I prepared one picture of the bear for you. And from now don’t think or imagine about the white bear for 30seconds. If you think or imagine the bear, count the number, how many times. You can do everything to remove the bear in your mind. You can shout, you can sleep for a while, or you can sing. Do you understand? And are you ready? I’ll check the time. Start!


So, how many times did you think or imagine about the bear? Is it easy to remove the bear in your brain totally? Not to think about the bear, you might have shouted continuously, you might have kept singing or you might have talked to others.


Like this experiment, it is very hard to remove something in our brain when you want to remove. You should do something continuously without stopping. But it is impossible in real world. Some people exercise very hard not to think about stressful events. But when they stop exercising, those events invade your brain, and make them crazy. So they could not stop exercising, and finally they might get exercise addiction. And some people eat too much food to remove stressful thoughts in their mnd. Eventually, they could get some weight. But it must be tragedy, especially to women.

So how do we do? Opening up your mind instead of closing your mind. Just talk about the events which bug you to your trustful person. It might be your friend, parents, or good teacher like Mark. It helps you to arrange your thoughts. If you arrange your thoughts by talking, you might know that your problems are not so serious as you thought before. Then you could minimize your stress.

Think about your dirty room which is full of stuff. The first solution is doing not use your room. But is it fundamental solution? Never. If you use this solution, you might think "Oh, no, I should have cleaned my room." soon. It is similar to try not to think about your stressful events. But if you start to clean your room, you would realize that it is not so dirty as you thought. It is similar to try to talk about stressful problem to other people.

So, if you have some problem in your life, just talk about it, instead of ignoring it.

The Abominable Snowman

He has been call the missing link or half-man, half-beast. He is huge, maybe as much as 2.5 meters or about eight foot tall. His body is covered with long brown hair but his face is hairless. His head is pointed, but he looks like a man. He walks upright, standing on two feet. He lives near the top of the highest mountain in the world – Mount Everest. He is known as the Abominable Snowman. The legend of the Abominable Snowman is not new. For years, local people have reported seeing the creature they call “Yeti” -- the all-eating animal – come down from the mountains and attack villagers. Climbers in the 1920s reported stories of huge footprints they saw high in the Himalayas – footprints unlike any animal’s they had seen before. In 1951, the explorer Eric Shipton took photographs of enormous tracks in the snow of Mount Everest. Shipton concluded that these footprints could not have been the tracks of any ordinary animal. He assumed that the Abominable Snowman really existed and must have walked around that area. These days, few people still believe in the Abominable Snowman. There have only been footprints in the snow as evidence of this creature. Scientists say there should have been more evidence. They suggest that the tracks may have been bear tracks. The sun can cause tracks to melt, and so, when the tracks refreeze, they look like large footprints, such as those on Mount Everest. If anyone ever succeeds in catching an Abominable Snowman, they may face a real problem: Would they put it in a zoo or give it a room in a hotel?
