Opening up!!


How stressful he is. Look him, how stressful he is. One of his parents or his friends might have died. Or he could have failed on his important test. Another possibility is he may have lost his job. All of us have those kinds of stressful events. So what do you usually do when you have so stressful problem in your life? Just try to forget it? Or you could have eaten more than usual, or you might have run so hardly and shouted like a monster. Because everyone who has such a huge stressful problem wants to remove it in our brain, or reduce our stress. So, are these good solutions to reduce or remove our stress?


So, for a couple of minute, try some experiment. At then first, close your eyes. And imagine a white big bear. You might have seen the bear in coke advertisement. Can you imagine? Don’t worry. I prepared one picture of the bear for you. And from now don’t think or imagine about the white bear for 30seconds. If you think or imagine the bear, count the number, how many times. You can do everything to remove the bear in your mind. You can shout, you can sleep for a while, or you can sing. Do you understand? And are you ready? I’ll check the time. Start!


So, how many times did you think or imagine about the bear? Is it easy to remove the bear in your brain totally? Not to think about the bear, you might have shouted continuously, you might have kept singing or you might have talked to others.


Like this experiment, it is very hard to remove something in our brain when you want to remove. You should do something continuously without stopping. But it is impossible in real world. Some people exercise very hard not to think about stressful events. But when they stop exercising, those events invade your brain, and make them crazy. So they could not stop exercising, and finally they might get exercise addiction. And some people eat too much food to remove stressful thoughts in their mnd. Eventually, they could get some weight. But it must be tragedy, especially to women.

So how do we do? Opening up your mind instead of closing your mind. Just talk about the events which bug you to your trustful person. It might be your friend, parents, or good teacher like Mark. It helps you to arrange your thoughts. If you arrange your thoughts by talking, you might know that your problems are not so serious as you thought before. Then you could minimize your stress.

Think about your dirty room which is full of stuff. The first solution is doing not use your room. But is it fundamental solution? Never. If you use this solution, you might think "Oh, no, I should have cleaned my room." soon. It is similar to try not to think about your stressful events. But if you start to clean your room, you would realize that it is not so dirty as you thought. It is similar to try to talk about stressful problem to other people.

So, if you have some problem in your life, just talk about it, instead of ignoring it.
